Ascending Toubkal

The "Djbel Toubkal" (mount Toubkal) is the highest peak in North Africa, earning it a reputation of awe and adventure- a reputation which already existed in Leo's days. According to Leo, in all his travels he never saw so high a mountain as Toubkal.

The Toubkal ascent is a popular activity (more climb it than you would think), but this doesn't preclude you coming very, very prepared. Be warned, the summit is at 4200 meters, and the base camp at 3000 meters- at such heights some people experience altitude sickness.

That said, the climb is a true challenge, and the experience rewarding:the views stretching far over the Altas do make up for several hours of fighting winds, cold, verticality and narrow paths!
