Water Walk The treasures once bestowed by water upon an otherwise arid and infertile land stil stand today: palm trees, small bushes, various crops. Just as water was the one 'magnet' for development and wealth in different areas of Morocco, so it remains today, insuring the livelihood of many. It also makes for very agreeable tourism in a region that can otherwise be overwhelmingly hot. The Ziz
Valley is still home to hundreds of families, tending to their individual
plots of grass, palms, fruit and vegetables. As we walked along the
river bed, we stumbled into blooming almond trees, green palms, and
endless beds of budding wheat. A real treat Occasionally,
a paradise looking pothole would appear in the river's course-there
we saw men and women washing; men and women bathing.
